After graduating UCSD, I landed a job at the American Film Institute where I wrote Grant Proposals and Reports for the Directing Workshop for Women and the Independent FIlmmaker's program. I became friends with the head of PR at AFI and he took me under his wing and began to train me. I eventually got a job at the top PR firm at that time. It was a fun time and we worked with the best of the best. Our client list included names like Bette Midler, Beach Boys, George Benson, A&M Records, Michael Jackson, Alabama, Pricilla Presley, Jane Seymour, Rick James, Chaka Khan and many more. Eventually, I was recruited to work as a VP at another PR firm, but my enthuisiasm for PR was started to fizzle out.
I took a temp job so I could figure out my next step. My temp job became very permanent at Lorimar/MGM in Cable Development. After a couple of years, my boss was let go and she opted to keep me on salary until she she found a home for us at another studio. I ended up working at Fox studios for a couple of years for a few different departments, but eventually landed a job doing development for a different producer. I wanted to improve my skills so I took some night classes at UCLA. My teacher was a great guy and we had an instant rapport. He loved my analytical skills and writing abilities, so he recruited me for a friend who was looking for someone to work with him in film and TV development. Within six months of taking the job, my boss was fired and I was asked to fill his shoes (for less money). This was not an easy task, but after talking it over with him, he encouraged me to jump in. I worked 7 days a week, reading, writing and collaborating with various producers and writers. Because of my relentless schedule, I had no idea that my lack of energy was an indication that more going on than simple fatigue. My energy level dropped to non existent, so I had to stop working.
After two years of exhaustion and having every part of me tested, the doctors were frustrated and so was I. I am not a quitter, but there didn't seem to be any avenues opening up to help me. I had an elevated white blood cell count, constant fever and no energy. Eventually they diagnosed me with Epstein Barr. They tried putting me on anti-depressants. I literally could not lift my arms over my head to blow dry my hair. I actually ended up depressed from the antidepressants and so I flushed them down the toilet after one dose. I spent my days laying in bed, having difficulty moving from the bathroom to the bedroom of our small home. One day my neighbor mentioned that she was going to attend an introduction to Transcendental Meditation and I felt drawn to go. I loved the intro and noticed an immediate shift.I wanted to sign up, but had no money after having been unemployed for so long. My teacher, decided to teach me anyway. He looked me in the eyes and said he felt he was "supposed to" teach me and asked me to pledge to send him money when I could.
When the TM Instructor recited the lineage of the Gurus, it was as if I knew it. I actually did know it, but more in my head than in a way I could have recited out loud. While practicing my TM, I started to have visions of blockages and issues on other people's bodies. My dreams changed and I began having "instructional" dreams from Babaji. At the time, I had no idea who He was. Later on I found out that he was a famous Saint who had left his body 12 years prior to showing up in my dreams. In my mind, during meditation, I also started hearing songs in Sanskrit that I had never been exposed to. One evening, the TM group needed a place to meditate and we volunteered our home. There was an older TM lady who came in, stared me in the eyes and said, "this is the home of a very powerful Healer." At the time, I had no idea what she meant.
Around the same time, I went for an energy balancing session and was again told that I was a Healer. The woman who was supposed to be giving me sessions, asked me to become her personal bodyworker and apprentice. Shortly after that, a gifted psychic took me under her wing and began to teach me how to use my psychic abilities. I went through an entire program of the esoteric arts, which covered things like remote healing, tarot cards, distance healing, psychometry, and more. A series of amazingly talented teachers started showing up in my life to help me learn. Since that time, I have learned from and apprenticed with some of the most gifted Healers, Shaman, Body Language experts and Holy people from around the globe. For a number of years, I taught seminars on bodywork and personal growth. I practiced Body Harmony and was one of 36 who taught the modality worldwide. Organizations can change personalities and so I moved on to open myself to new education and growth. I recently completed my Certification as an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist, but I am also certified as a Yoga Instructor and in numerous healing modalities, including: Raindrop, Esalen, Deep Tissue Sports Massage, Myofacial Release, Cranial Sacral, Pranic Healing, Body Talk and more. I also practiced Native American healing and taught Vivation and Rebirthing. Now, some thirty plus years later, I have taught healing in various locations throughout the US, Mexico and Europe. Along the way, I spent every spare moment studying essential oils and became a trusted authority on essential oils for health and wellness. Besides maintaining my healing practice, I have been teaching and developing classes on essential oils for 13+ years throughout So Cal at various corportations and yoga studios such as Core Power Yoga, Hot 8 and Yogaworks as well as Marymout University, LA Harbor college and Cal State University Long Beach
